Dear Sol & Sam,
The day before your mummy died I had the
privilege of spending the afternoon with her, you two boys and my girls
Lily and Natalie in Golders Hill Park. Wednesday afternoons were very
special to me because I knew at least once a month it was guaranteed
that your mummy and I would hang out together and she was a great
companion to do that with.
As normal Charl and I met and tried to chat whilst Sol and Lily
played. Not once did she take her eyes off you Sol – no matter
how deep in conversation we were her thoughts were first and foremost
with her two boys.
As we wondered down to the playground area Sol and Lily chased
each other and Charl and I chased you. When we reached the
climbing frame area your mum did not hesitate in helping Sol accross
the monkey bars – she took so much pleasure in watching you enjoy
yourself. This was so much in evidence in the wide smile that
stretched across her face.
Sam you were never forgotten about as we reached the sandpit Sol
and Lily happily played whilst Charl perched on the edge and so
carefully fed you your milk with one hand whilst keeping the other hand
free should Sol need anything.
As teatime approached we decided that in all our outings
together we had never given you tea out. So today as a treat to you and
to ourselves we gave you tea at the café. We pushed our buggies back to
the café and ordered you huge plates of pasta. Charl so
competently made sure that you were enjoying your tea Sol whilst she
fed Sam his solids balancing him on her knee. After tea as a
special treat we bought you ice cream. Sol you so enjoyed
it. You and Lily ran up and down the hill whilst your mummy held
your ice cream – despite it melting all over her she knew that when you
were you ready for it you would enjoy it so much – she was so right!
It soon started getting colder and after much negotiation with
you guys we walked back to the car and said our goodbyes. Your
mummy’s face is so clearly in my head as we said goodbye that day ……
Your mummy was so special and I feel so lucky to have known her
and to have been given the opportunities to spend those precious
afternoons with her. She will never ever be forgotten.
Much love always
Anna xx
