Solly's first birthday party, Aug 2003
MRB
- It was a super day in Jude's back garden. As I remember it Evelyn was
doen from Glasgow and was there to celebrate. Jo remembers that
Jude made a meringue, strawberry and cream cake. These are still
some of Sol's favourite things.
I, being the proud father of my first 1 year old took lots of pictures on my new digital camera only to realise that I managed to delete all of them when we got back home. So, this is one of my only pictures of this event (thanks Jo).
Garden Suburb, Aug 2003
Jo
- Flitterman/Berger get together at mine. 3 Boys + 3 Girls now equal
19! Plus the Grand Mama's in the middle. Lady Judith Ann
& Lady Valerie Ann.
Colonia, Oct 2003
MRB - Stuart
and Greta got married in Buenos Aires in November 2003. Solly and
I got sick after the long flight (Char was uneffected as always).
We decided to take an overnight trip to Colonia, just a short boat ride across the River Plate to Uruguay. We stayed in a wonderful old hotel and spent an afternoon on this beach. I think we were the only ones on it! Colonia was full of antique american cars.
Then we went back into the town and had pizza and beer. The waiters at the restaurant thought that was the funniest thing ever!
St. Mary's Hospital, Oct 2003

Annicka Terry - I took these pictures less than a day into our son Eben's life. The moment was so very special. The unspoken understanding between us and the Brass clan now we too had a little boy. What a way to be greeted into the world with these smiles. What a way to recover from childbirth - having quality friends to offer love, support and, in Char's case, very practical advice, about our new life ahead.
Cousin's Party, Nov 2003
Dan Harverd (9 Oct 06) - I'm sure I'm not the only person who has been thinking
even more than usual about Charlotte since Grandma Freda passed away.
It would be a bit of a stretch to say that they were similar, but they
both shared such joy for life and positiveness that you'd always come
away from seeing them wanting to pass that on to someone else. In fact
when I think about Charlotte, the movie 'Pay it Forward' often pops
into my head. Its about a schoolboy who has the idea of changing the
world by doing a good deed to three people, who in turn will do a good
deed for three others and so on. That kind of kindness just came so
naturally to Charlotte that I'm sure she started many of those chains
without even realising it.
My favourite memory is the cuz party (Arnon coined the term) that Charlotte organised in Nov 2003. We'd just moved to England a couple of months before and Claire and family were also in town. It was the first and only cuz party (to date) that we've had, and it made such sense that Charlotte was behind the idea. The only other times we'd all get together were at major family events. What made the evening so special was that in the few years since we'd last had a big family gathering a whole new generation had sprung up. Solly did a good job sharing his toys with Joe, Lola, Kate, Noa, and Toby. Charlotte of course had bought presents for all the children and your living room became a kids art studio for the evening. There was a great party atmosphere.
As grandma would say, a truly wonderful wonderful person.
